THE GIFT OF SELF-LOVE

Valentine’s Day, a time to show a little extra appreciation for those you care about the most.

But while you enjoy the flowers, tiny, shiny gifts, and candle-lit dinners, don’t forget about the most important relationship of all: the one you have with yourself. Adopt these 5 easy habits and make sure you practice some self-love this month.

Do What Feels Good

Valentine’s Day pressure is real. It’s natural to feel overwhelmed by the expectation to do something “super special” or anything at all. Instead of thinking about what’ll look good on Instagram, think about what’ll make you feel good. A night in with a movie, snacks, and your comfy PEP PJs? Why not? Getting dressed up and heading out with the girls? Yes, please! Show yourself a little love by spending the 14th however you choose.

Pay it Forward

Contributing to society – our time or our skills – gives us a sense of purpose. It also builds our self-esteem and boosts our feeling of well-being. Did we mention it’s a great way to meet lots of new people, too? Do something kind for others (and for yourself in turn) this month by donating unwanted goods, helping at your community kitchen, or mentoring a young person.

Self-love in Motion

Regular exercise is one of the easiest and most beneficial self-care habits. Not only does it relieve stress, but it boosts your brain’s ability to learn, think, and reason, and produces endorphins – the hormones that help relieve pain and improve your sense of well-being. Love yourself a little harder this month and get active with Be Active, PEP’s exclusive activewear range.

Treat Yourself

Self-care isn’t selfish. In fact, appreciating your own worth is an important part of overall well-being.

To some, this could mean switching off their phone to indulge in a book, buying a nourishing skincare product or going out for a delicious lunch. When in doubt, follow the advice you would give a tired friend or overworked partner: “Take some time to treat yourself… within budget.” Ha!

Be Kind

If you were asked to name all the things you love, how long would it take for you to name yourself? The world is full of harsh words, don’t add yours to the mix. Speak kindly to yourself. You’ve come so far and grown so much. Celebrate your achievements every day… not only on your birthday.
