The first day of school can be daunting for both parents and their kids. Getting ready requires the necessary prep – buying
stationary, packing lunches and so much more! Follow these tips to help your family get a winning start to the year.
BE PREPARED
Waiting till the last minute to buy back-to-school goodies adds unnecessary pressure to an already stressful situation. Avoid the
scramble by putting together a shopping list, identifying a date, and buying all the necessities in advance. At PEP we offer a wide
range of stationery, school outfits, and other essentials. Drop by and shop our exclusive Bella & Gema and Future Hero ranges of
track tops and shorts, in-store now!
TALK ABOUT IT
First-week jitters are real. Help your kids cope with their feelings by letting them express their fears. Share stories of your school day
to reassure them that being nervous is natural. Discuss their worries and strategise a way forward. For example, if they’re worried
about who to sit with, help them rehearse. Lastly, teach them to breathe deeply. This will slowly calm their nerves and is a great
technique to use in any stressful situation going forward.
EMPOWER THEM
Kids who play an active role in preparing for back to school – choosing school supplies or outfits – are more likely to get excited about
going back to school. Empower your little one and encourage independence by giving them age-appropriate chores like packing their
backpack or polishing their shoes.
